Tester Information - Test a Pattern in Exchange for 5 Backlinks
Although I have been crocheting for a while, I have only been writing crochet patterns for a few years. And even though I did my best, I know that a lot of my patterns can be improved. A few of my patterns have been tested by a second person, but most of them are tested only by myself. Testing your own patterns will help to make it better, however, it still leaves an open door for errors.
In order to bring you the best possible crochet patterns that are clear and easy to follow, I have decided to take on some pattern testers to help me improve my patterns. I would love to be able to pay each tester, however, at this time I am unable to do so. Because of that, I ask that you only test a pattern if it is for an item that interests you. However, in exchange for each pattern that you test, I will give you 5 permanent backlinks to your website or blog. More on this in Rule 5.
The Rules - What I Ask of My Testers and What I Will Give in Return
1.) My goal is to provide you with the best possible patterns that I can possibly produce. As a result, I would appreciate if my testers would look at the pattern with a critical eye and let me know of any errors, even if they are only small or if it is only a case of unclarity.
2.) To provide me with a picture of the finished project.
3.) To fill out a small questionnaire/checklist about each pattern that you test. Each pattern will be accompanied with an appropriate list.
4.) To meet the deadline. If there is a pattern that you want to test, but you cannot meet the deadline, let me know before you sign up and I will see if I can postpone the deadline.
5.) To allow me to post your name beside each pattern that you test. In addition to posting your name to the pattern, I will also link to your personal profile page, which I will create for you on this site. Of course, this profile page will only be created with your permission. However, I do ask that you allow me to post your name beside each pattern.
Your Name. Your name can be anything that you want it to be, including your real name or another online identity that you might have, such as your Twitter ID, Facebook name, or blog/website name.
Benefit of Profile Page. From your profile page, I will link to all the patterns that you have tested for me, as well as to your blog/website or Etsy shop. I would be happy to link to all your patterns, crochet articles or anything else that is crochet, craft or sewing related.
Your profile will be created on testers.crochetncrafts.com.
For every pattern that you test, you get 5 links to your blog/website. This is just a precaution in order to prevent people from testing one pattern and then wanting dozens of links in return. This might not seem like a lot, but the links will be permanent, or for as long as you wish them to remain. They will be "Follow" links, which means that they will not only bring you free traffic, but they will also help you out in the search engines.
Other things that I can put on your profile page is a short summary of yourself, your crochet experience, your contact info, or anything else that you want to share. I can leave it up to you to write the summary, or I can write it for you and have you approve it before I post it. You can also send me a picture of yourself or a logo of your blog/website.
And another thing that I can do for you, is introduce you to my readers in my newsletter, which goes out just about every week. Again, this is optional, but if you have a blog or website, it will give you a little extra exposure.
6.) You do not need to have any testing experience. I will try and put a skill level next to each pattern in order to help you decide whether or not you want to test it.
7.) Patterns to be tested will be awarded to the first responders. My goal is to have 2-3 testers for each pattern.
8.) Even though you sign up to be a tester, you never have to test any patterns unless you absolutely feel up to it.
To become a tester, all you have to do is add your name and email into the form below and you will be notified when a new pattern becomes available for testing.
